FEDERAL ENERGY ASPHYXIATION

Through the din of the clamor for post-officizing the oil industry, we hear Republ. candidate for Texas' 19th district Jim Reese:

"When FEA went into business, the US was importing about one third of our oil. This year we have had weeks where imports have been more than 50%, and there is no sign it's going to get better. Domestic production is being crippled, and FEA's crazy-quilt system of price controls is one of the major causes.

"FEA has grown from nothing to 3,400 of the highest paid government employees in just 3 years. The mean salary of FEA employees is $19,000. More than 110 of these employees are public relations experts cranking out 60 press releases a month and costing taxpayers more than $3,000,000 a year."
