Exploding the Energy Myth by E.N. Skousen and J. B. Tenney is just about the best popular book on the energy problem and how to solve it by freemarket economics. Highly recommended. Softbound, 225 pp., $2.95 from Institute of Energy Education, Box 1264, Orem, Utah 84057.
The Attack on Corporate America, ed. by M.Bruce Johnson, is an anthology of short articles by some 60 authors, a handbook for the defense of the American Corporation from anti capitalist critics, and as such it is highly commendable. What it lacks is a defense (is there one?) against pro-capitalist critics who point to the big corporations seeking government protection rather than freedom from government interference, and who by their mindless hunt for publicity and easy sales give support to those who, at home and abroad, are bent on destroying the free enterprise system. Hardb., 348 pp., $14.95, McGrawHill, 1978.
Corporate Responsibility: The viability of capitalism in an era of militant demands is another jewel from the Rockford College Institute that tackles some of these questions on a somewhat deeper level in six essays, of which we particularly like J. St. John's exposure of the totalitarian nature of the Naderite philosophy. Softb., 81 pp., $1.50 from RCI, 5050 E.State St., Rockford, IL 61101.
And once again we have occasion to recommend Harper's. In "Exporting Pettifoggery" in the October issue, Tom Bethell exposes the NRDC's sabotage, this time by suing to require environmental impacts to be assessed in countries to which the US is exporting. As in the incestuous fraud we reported in the case of coal leases, the suits are being defended" by lawyers who have moved from the sham environmental organizations into the Carter administration.
