1) "I am a better actor than Jane Fonda is a nuclear engineer."
Dr. Edward Teller
2) Gordon D. Friedlander, former senior editor of IEEE Spectrum, now editor of Electrical World, on IEEE Spectrum's special TMI issue (see AtE editorial Dec.79): "I am frankly appalled by Spectrum's special issue... Ellis Rubinstein, the issue editor, has absolutely no background in engineering, nor is, as far as I know, even an associate member of IEEE."
3) Analysis of the 1957-58 Soviet nuclear accident, Publ. 1445 of the Envir. Sci. Div., Oak Ridge National Lab., Report ORNL-5613, Dec. 1979, finds that a credible accidental release of separated fission waste from high-level waste storage can be postulated without resorting to any type of nuclear explosive mechanism. A very thorough report, which appeals to the USSR to share all pertinent information with the international scientific community. Will shortly be available from NTIS, Springfield, VA 22161; price not yet known.
4) After last year's successful First National Conference on Energy Advocacy in Washington, DC, a second such conference will be held in Chicago, June 26 to 29. For information write, "Energy for the Eighties," 1015-15th St. NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20005.
