Friends of the Earth, the Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Environmental Action, the Council for a Livable World, the United Church of Christ, and six other groups have gone to court over the "Dense Pack" basing of the MX missile, arguing that it violates federal law by failing to conduct a full environmental impact assessment; the suit contends that "federal officials must examine the potential environmental effects of nuclear explosions that the missiles would ignite if they are ever used."
