This is mostly based on the fundamental paper by Levenson and Rahn, "Realistic estimates of the consequences of a nuclear accident," Nucl. Technology May 1981, pp. 99-110, which makes the Rasmussen Study obsolete: Physical laws, not man-made gadgets, limit the worst consequences of a nuclear catastrophe to a fraction of the ones assumed earlier.
