TO OUR SOUTH-AFRICAN SUBSCRIBERS

For the duration of US sanctions, the subscriptions of our present (1) South African subscribers will be renewed free of change.

This is not be interpreted as approval of Apartheid (which I abhor), but as a protest against the cynicism of the congressional racists who insolently feign concern about human rights. Sen. Lugar does not call for disinvestment in the far more repressive USSR, and Rep. Schroeder collects money for the Nicaraguan anti-semitic and anti-Miskito Stalinistas. Few members of Congress have anything to say about the appalling racism, often resulting in genocide, in Burundi, the Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda and other African countries, presumably because both perpetrators and victims, to them, are "only blacks."

For the duration of US sanctions, we will also run the Great Patricia Schroeder Special, under which new South African subscribers will get a 50% discount ($15 instead of $30/year). I hope they will use the savings to get a copy of South Africa: The Solution by L. Louw and F. Kendall (Amagi Publications, PO Box 145, Strathavon 2031, S. Africa; also available from overseas for $17.50).
