2) The EPA has mandated, but not tested in arctic temperatures, oxygenated fuels to cut down on CO emissions in winter. Two physicians from the government's Center for Disease Control have arrived in Alaska to investigate the apparently resulting rash of health complaints. [USA Today 11/24/92.]
3) A Colorado company, intent on preventing the depletion of the ozone layer, replaced the CFC propellant of a leather protecting spray with a more politically correct substance, and the ozone layer is in less peril now. But the new spray led to coughing, shortness of breath, headaches and fever in more than 60 reported cases; and in severe cases it could lead to pneumonia, according to the Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center.
